This Privacy Policy explains how AC Remote Control: Universal ("the App", "we", "us", or "our"), package name com.coolhome.acremote.universal, collects, uses, and shares information when you use our Android application. By installing or using the App, you agree to the practices described here.
Quick summary
- The App controls your air conditioner locally through your phone's Infrared (IR) Blaster — this happens on-device and does not require an account.
- The App is free and supported by ads. We use Google AdMob and AppLovin MAX (mediation) to show ads.
- We use Google Firebase for analytics and crash reporting, and Adjust for install attribution, to keep the App reliable and improve it.
- These advertising and analytics partners may process your Advertising ID and device information. Every SDK is listed below with a link to its privacy policy.
- We do not collect your name, contacts, precise GPS location, SMS, photos, or payment card details.
- You can reset your Advertising ID, manage ad-consent choices, and contact us to exercise your privacy rights at any time.
Contents
1. Information we process
We keep data collection to the minimum needed to operate a free, ad-supported utility app.
App activity & remote configurations (on your device)
When you set up a remote, the App stores your selections — the AC brand you chose, the remote profile that works, device names, room assignments, and preferences — locally on your device. This information is not uploaded to us.
Device & usage information
Through our analytics and advertising SDKs, we and our partners automatically process technical information such as device model, operating-system version, language, country/region (derived from IP, not precise GPS), app version, screen views, anonymized in-app events, and crash diagnostics. This helps us understand how the App is used and fix problems.
Advertising identifiers
Because the App shows ads, our advertising partners may access your device's Google Advertising ID (GAID) and related signals to serve and measure ads. You can reset or limit this ID at any time (see Your rights & choices).
Support communications
If you email our support address, we receive your email address and the contents of your message so we can respond.
2. Permissions we request
The App requests only the permissions it needs to function:
- Infrared / IR Blaster (
android.permission.TRANSMIT_IR) — required to send remote-control signals to your air conditioner. This is the core function of the App. - Internet & network state (
INTERNET,ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE) — required to load ads and send anonymized analytics/crash reports. - Advertising ID (
com.google.android.gms.permission.AD_ID) — required on Android 13+ so advertising SDKs can access the Google Advertising ID for ad serving and measurement.
The App does not request access to your contacts, SMS, call logs, camera, microphone, or precise location.
3. Third-party SDKs we use
The App embeds the following third-party software development kits (SDKs). Each operates under its own privacy policy. We encourage you to review them.
| SDK & operator | Purpose | Data processed | Privacy policy |
|---|---|---|---|
| Google AdMob Google LLC |
Serving ads and measuring ad performance in the free app. | Google Advertising ID, coarse IP-derived location, device info, ad-interaction events. | policies.google.com/technologies/ads |
| AppLovin MAX AppLovin Corporation |
Ad mediation — selecting the best-performing ad network for each ad request. | Advertising ID, device info, ad-request and impression events. | applovin.com/privacy |
| Google Firebase Google LLC |
Analytics, Crashlytics (crash reporting), Remote Config, and Cloud Messaging. | App instance ID, device model, OS version, language, country, screen views, anonymized events, crash stack traces. | firebase.google.com/support/privacy |
| Adjust Adjust GmbH (an AppLovin company) |
Install attribution, marketing measurement, and fraud prevention. | Advertising ID, hashed device fingerprint, install timestamp, conversion events. | adjust.com/terms/privacy-policy |
Our mediation stack (AppLovin MAX) may route ad requests to additional demand partners listed in our app-ads.txt file. These partners act as advertising service providers and process advertising identifiers to serve and measure ads.
Ad consent (GDPR / CCPA)
Where required by law, the App presents a consent request through Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) before showing personalized ads. Your choice determines whether you see personalized or non-personalized ads. You can change your consent at any time from within the App.
Your choices regarding these SDKs
- Reset your Advertising ID: Android Settings → Privacy → Ads → Reset advertising ID (or Delete advertising ID).
- Opt out of personalized ads: decline consent in the UMP prompt, or toggle Settings → Privacy → Ads → Opt out of Ads Personalization.
- Withdraw consent: email us and we will help you exercise your choices.
4. What we do not collect
- We do not read your SMS messages or call logs.
- We do not access your contacts.
- We do not collect precise (GPS) location.
- We do not use your camera or microphone.
- We do not access your photo library.
- We do not collect or store payment card data — the App is free and has no in-app purchases.
- We do not sell or rent your personal data to data brokers.
Note: because the App is ad-supported, our advertising partners (AdMob, AppLovin MAX) are considered advertising service providers and receive advertising identifiers as described above.
5. How we use information
- To operate the core remote-control functionality on your device.
- To display ads that keep the App free.
- To measure app performance, diagnose crashes, and improve features.
- To understand which features are used so we can prioritize improvements.
- To respond to your support requests.
- To comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms.
6. Sharing & third parties
We share information only with the parties needed to run the App:
- Google — Google Play distribution, Firebase (analytics/crash), and AdMob (advertising).
- AppLovin — ad mediation (AppLovin MAX) and attribution (Adjust).
- Legal & safety — when required by law, regulation, legal process, or to protect rights, safety, and the integrity of the App.
We do not sell your personal information for money. Some jurisdictions treat sharing advertising identifiers for personalized advertising as a "sale" or "sharing" — you may opt out as described in Section 8.
7. Data retention
- On-device remote settings: kept until you delete them or uninstall the App.
- Firebase Analytics: up to 14 months (Google default).
- Firebase Crashlytics: individual crash records retained for up to 90 days.
- Adjust attribution data: up to 24 months.
- AdMob / advertising data: per Google's advertising-platform defaults.
- Support emails: up to 24 months.
8. Your rights & choices
Depending on your location (e.g. the EU/EEA and UK under GDPR, or California under CCPA/CPRA), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or port your personal information, and to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
- Ad personalization: control via the in-app UMP prompt or Android Settings → Privacy → Ads.
- Delete on-device data: clear the App's storage or uninstall the App.
- Requests: email devapp.aero+acremotecontrol@gmail.com. We aim to respond within 30 days.
9. Children's privacy
The App is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Our SDKs are not configured for child-directed treatment. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
10. International users
Our service providers may process data in the United States and other countries where they operate. Where required, transfers rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses. By using the App, you understand your information may be processed in these locations.
11. Security
We rely on Android's application sandbox and scoped storage to isolate app data, and all communication with our analytics and advertising endpoints uses encrypted HTTPS connections. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, via the App or Google Play release notes. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
